COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Community support is essential for the program’s existence.  Voices for Youth relies on volunteers and donations to assist in the vital services the program offers. Our work has been made possible through grants from the government, private industries and our community’s generous donations.  Additional funding is provided through United Way

Who are these youth?

Homelessness does not discriminate against race, gender, or the social standthg of the youth or their family. Homelessness can be in a small town and it can be young. Common reasons for teenage homelessness include abuse (physical, sexual, or verbal), pregnancy, alcohol or other chemical dependency on the part of the parent or the youth, and family dysfunction. A number of youth are “throwaway kids” whose parents moved to a different town or state and left the youth behind. In some cases, the youth is homeless because of a misunderstanding between the parent and the child. Every story is different and unique.
